I’m probably too much of a bike geek to avoid this, and realize it’s not for everyone but wanted to give a plug for the annual East Coast “Stop Swap and Save” up in Westminster, MD.
I’d be the first to admit that I really don’t need any more bike related paraphernalia, but I look forward to this each year with childlike glee. Who knows what dusty trinket you may find?!
Mix of good deals, not so good deals and a bunch of things you really should just walk away from. Good times!
Another great welcome to the New Year with a choice of 50K or 100K through some epic Loudoun Gravel/Dirt roads. Brian H nailed it again this year with some great routing to avoid (mostly) the busier pavement and keep things diverse.
A bit more climbing than some realized (4.8K feet on the 100K option) but generally through shorter hills so it wasn’t terrible.
Great turnout this year with the unseasonably warm weather. Would guess 30+ started with about a third of those opting for the 100K. Good times, hello 2016!
GPX files below should you want to recreate either of the routes.
May be an easy way to keep track of local riders and scout out some potential routes.

Scott and Nicole always put together great rides – this is another in their continuing series. 75K at a “relaxed” pace, which may still be pretty spirited for most!
This should be a big one. Just think of the treasures which may be unearthed as the Velo Classique guys dig around and somehow plan a move.
Worth a trip for sure!
Looking to collect some of what’s great about riding in Loudoun County. Aiming to provide a central repository for a bunch of cycling related info :
- Bike Shops
- Shop Rides – who’s going, when, how far?
- GPX Library so you can go whenever
- Organized Rides – what’s coming up you should join in?
- Other Cycling Related Events
- Off Road Efforts – where can you ride now, and how can you help support new riding areas?
